Raja Ram Temple

Orchha is the only place in the world where Shri Ram is not called God but King. The people here consider Shri Ram as their king. Now you may wonder why the people of Orchha consider Shri Ram, who was born in Ayodhya, as their king? The reason for this is the Queen of Orchha. She was a devotee of Lord Shri Ram. She was so engrossed in the devotion of Lord Shri Ram that even the king would not disturb her at that time. The king understood his queen's devotion and affection for Lord Shri Ram, which is why he decided to build a Ram temple here. He specially ordered the idol from Ayodhya at that time to be installed in the temple. When the idol arrived, the temple was still under construction.

Why is Shri Ram Known as Raja Ram?

The idol could not be installed in the temple at that time. So the king had it temporarily installed in his palace for some time. Now that the temple was built, it was time to install the idol there. At the time of installation, for some reason, the idol could not be moved from the palace. Many attempts were made to remove it, but it did not budge. After this incident, the queen herself told the king that it was not God's wish to leave from here. If you forcibly try to move the idol from here, we and the people living in our state will have to suffer its consequences. Instead, let the idol remain here. The king heeded the queen's words and converted the palace into a temple. Since then, Lord Shri Ram, who resides here, is called Raja Ram.

The Fort of Orchha

The main fort of Orchha is considered a symbol of the bravery of the kings of Bundelkhand. This fort, which stands tall even after centuries, reminds us of Raja Chhatrasal and his daughter Mastani. Inside this fort, a light and sound show is arranged, so that the tourists who come here can experience the atmosphere of that time. This light and sound show narrates the story of the bravery of the Bundelas. It describes what the situation was like at that time, how the king saved his people and protected his kingdom by performing various heroic deeds. All these things are described in this light and sound show. People who are fond of knowing historical facts must visit this place.
