Pondicherry: A French Colony in India

It is a Union Territory of India, also known as the "Europe of India" because it was a French colony until 1954. The buildings, roads, etc., built by the French are still present today, which is why this place makes you feel like you have come to another country instead of India. Serenity Beach


Located 10 km away from Pondicherry, Serenity Beach is known for its sun, sand, and big waves. Coconut trees are seen all around here. Those who are fond of water surfing can enjoy water surfing here. Surf breaks keep happening on this beach, so people who want to learn surfing or who are newly trained can also enjoy surfing. There are also homestays and some hotels around this beach, where you can easily find accommodation for a day or two.


Auroville


Auroville is an experimental township spread over an area of 20 square kilometers. Staying in this place is a unique experience. People from all over the world come here and experience spirituality. Here you will also get to experience a universal and cash-free lifestyle along with spirituality. Tourists coming here stay by joining an NGO as a volunteer or contribute to organic farming, handicraft production center, library or cooking. Auroville Beach


Situated in the neighboring village of Auroville, this beach is famous for its calm and serene atmosphere. You can reach this beach by driving for 30 minutes from Pondicherry. There is no restaurant, shop or parking space here, so you will not see the crowd or garbage found on other beaches. Only people who come to sit quietly on the beach are seen here, who mostly do not come for picnics, but to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the sea. The sunset at Auroville beach is amazing. It is advisable not to go into the water at this place, as the big waves are relatively dangerous.


Promenade Beach


Large stones are found on the shore of this beach. This place is near Goubert Avenue and is a historical place, along the shore of which French houses are located. The road to reach Promenade Beach is one and a half kilometers long. If you go on foot, you will enjoy seeing the houses around. Here you will find the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the statue of Marquis Dupleix and the World War I memorial. In the evening, there is a fair-like atmosphere here, as the food stalls here are bustling with lights and people in the evening. You will get the feeling of Goa's Baga Beach on Promenade Beach.
