Ousteri Wetland is located 10 km away from Pondicherry. It is one of the famous places to visit in Pondicherry. This place will be especially interesting for nature lovers. Shri Manakula Vinayagar Temple
This is an ancient temple. The Manakula Vinayagar Temple has been in this place since before the French rule. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The main attraction of the temple is the 7.5 kg gold-plated chariot, which people come here especially to see. During Dussehra, it has a festive atmosphere. It is said that during the French rule, many attempts were made to break this temple, but after these attempts, they could not cause much damage to the temple. The people of Pondicherry have great faith in this temple.
Puducherry Museum
In the Puducherry Museum, bronze and stone idols of the Pallava and Chola dynasties were found from the land of Arikamedu. Arikamedu is an archaeological site, which is located at an ancient site about 7 km from the city. At this place, the English used to trade with the Roman Empire. This museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm. In Puducherry, a 4 meter statue of Mahatma Gandhi has also been built, which is surrounded by 8 pillars. Apart from this, there is a French Memorial here, which was built in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. This memorial was built in 1971. Here, on every 14th of July, the martyrs are paid tribute.
